Dr. Hu is a food & drug lawyer in Oregon. Yi is Of Counsel to our firm and we have been working with him for over 10 years. He is especially helpful when it comes to FDA labels such as hard seltzers, ciders, kombucha, low alcohol wines and other foods. He has helped many of our clients with GRAS issues as well. His wide FDA experience includes claim analysis, advertising and social media review, warning letters, dietary supplements, medical devices, OTC drugs, and cosmetics.
For over 17 years he has worked with companies and entrepreneurs around the world, guiding them through the complex regulatory framework of the US FDA. He strives to provide practical and cost-effective solutions to help our clients grow, while avoiding missteps associated with FDA-regulated products.
He started his legal career at a leading international law firm, where he provided regulatory and intellectual property counseling to food, dietary supplement, biologic, medical device, and cosmetic companies in the research, development, distribution, and promotion of their products.
In addition to his legal and regulatory experience, Dr. Hu draws on his deep knowledge of the sciences to serve his clients. Prior to entering into law, he was a research scientist and earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry & molecular biology.
Yi-Kang grew up in Hawaii and Taiwan before making Oregon his home.
Yi is a member of the Oregon State Bar and is admitted to the US Patent & Trademark Office bar. Yi graduated from Reed College (BA), Oregon Health & Science University (Ph.D.), and Lewis & Clark Law School (JD).
