Permits and Licensing
Federal
Over the course of 20 years, Robert Lehrman and the firm have handled a great many licensing matters at the federal/TTB level and in many states. This work has ranged from malt beverages to wine to distilled spirits. Lehrman Beverage Law has substantial experience with federal import, DSP, wholesale and brewer licensing. Especially in the federal area, we can frequently save companies time and frustration. We have a large amount of experience with TTB’s Permits Online (PONL) system. We believe we can normally seek and obtain approvals much quicker and more easily, compared to others who use these systems and work with TTB personnel less often.
State
Lehrman Beverage Law also has substantial expertise in state licensing matters, particularly in Virginia and Washington, DC. In those jurisdictions we can help with alcohol beverage licensing matters at every tier, including retail licensing matters, wholesale licensing, and producer-level licensing matters. In particular, we have a demonstrated record of success and proficiency with agencies such as the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, and the District of Columbia Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration. We can also assist with many other state matters, and we often work in conjunction with attorneys and compliance consultants with expertise in other jurisdictions.
Frank Knizner handles many state licensing matters at our firm. He has many years of experience handling state and federal alcohol beverage regulatory matters working as a lawyer. Together with others in the firm, Frank has worked on many local licensing matters across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC. This includes licensing projects for restaurants, bars, hotels, clubs, grocery stores, liquor stores, wine shops, wholesalers and importers.
