TTB is highly unlikely to approve John McCain beer anytime soon. Not because he can’t win. But because TTB is reluctant to approve labels referring to Presidents of the United States. Despite this, many companies come very close to this line. Above is Obama Ale. Here is an Illinois wine celebrating the debate between Lincoln and Douglas. Really interesting. Are names of beers and wines often this topical and, if so, has this long been the case? I can think of a couple public figures that could serve as good namesakes for a liquor. Chester Arthur, for one. (Ted Kennedy might be a better example, but I don’t think he’s fair game for jokes at the present time.)
